Petition to Nintendo to give us the SSL keys
A user in the Wii-Homebrew.com forum has created a petition for Nintendo to give us the SSL and WC24 keys which are needed (or helpful) to recreate the WiiConnect24 servers and to use Wiimmfi without a patched image (and without homebrew).
Although I think the chance that Nintendo will react to this is low, I think we should get as much people to sign that as possible. Maybe Nintendo re-thinks their decision and gives us the needed keys.

100% in support of this, I will make sure to give this information to every single one of my contacts.
Re: Petition to Nintendo to give us the SSL keys
Some other point that was mentioned in the WHB forums:
At the moment, a user must softmod the wii to use Wiimmfi.
With the SSL keys, no softmod would be required.
So, if Nintendo gives us the SSL keys, fewer people will mod their consoles (those who only mod them because of Wiimmfi) and so, fewer people have "unauthorised software" on their console which can be used for pirating games.
So this should acually be good for Nintendo.

It should be good, but I would take this into consideration:
[1:47:04 AM] Zach: if you want one reason why the letter won't work other than because Nintendo is a big company who wants people to move to the Wii U, the letter itself sounds needy, and if it goes to any Japanese reader, it is completely ignorant of any cultural respect to a Japanese reader
[1:47:26 AM] Zach: "Give us Nintendo WFC + WC24 code!" Sounds like a whiny 12 year old sentence
[1:48:03 AM] Zach: if they want any chance of that to even work, it needs to sound a lot more professional
[1:48:11 AM] Zach: otherwise, it's not worth it
Tell the person who made the petition to make it sound more professional.
EDIT: It's to Nintendo of Europe, so that should solve some culture issues, but I still think it sounds a little needy. Best of luck anyway, we NEED this.
LukasLoucks suggests it be rewritten like this:
[1:49:10 AM] Zach: it needs to be rewritten. Perhaps open up with a statement thanking Nintendo for their services. Then start out another paragraph explaining what wiimmfi is about, and then cover the issues involved (perhaps in another paragraph). In some third paragraph, talk about what is needed AND how it would benefit Nintendo. End with another short paragraph thanking for reading the letter. Sincerely, Wiimmfi team or something like that. Good traditional business format.
if you want to make a difference with something THAT BIG, you'd want to spend hours just typing up 200-300 words
[1:55:06 AM] Zach: so that everything is written correctly
